In the current election season, political polarization feels like it is at an all-time high. Both the right and the left fight for moral high ground while painting the other as the enemy who is out to destroy the foundations of our country. In the midst of this volatility it can be difficult to discern the role of the Church and the role of the Christian. Throughout this series we will attempt to answer the question: how should Christians engage with politics?
Shaping Babylon (10/03/2020)
Like the Israelites in Babylonian exile, the Church in America today must struggle to maintain its spiritual and cultural identity that runs counter to the predominant culture around it. However, unlike the exiled Israelites, the Church today has the ability to shape the Babylon in which it finds itself. Join us as we look at our citizenship as a form of stewardship.
Stewarding a Missional Citizenship (10/10/2020)
As we continue to look at what it means to appropriately steward our citizenship, we explore how we can exercise that citizenship with a missional pulse.
Kingdom First (10/17/2020)
In today's political landscape, everything is competing for our loyalty. Political parties and candidates do their best to convince us that they are deserving of our faith. As Christians navigating politics, we must remember to reserve our devotion for the only one who is truly worthy.
Being an Advocate (10/24/2020)
God has a lot to say in the Bible about how you and I as individuals and our governing officials are to “come alongside” and speak up for those in our community who are disadvantaged, oppressed, or don’t have a voice. In the short time we have together, we are going to look at the concept of what it means to be an advocate, the example that Jesus gave us, and the implications for us as we edge closer and closer to the next election.
Yes, but Actually No (10/31/2020)
As Christians approaching politics, we must make sure not to expect politics to do what it has not been ordained for. Join us this week as we take a look at the limitations of government to accomplish what God has called the Church to do.
