Would You Be My Neighbor Graphic.jpg

Biblical hospitality begins with us seeing our homes not as ours, but rather as a gift from God to further His Kingdom.  As we embrace the way of Jesus, we begin to shift our perspectives around stewardship, generosity, and margin and our routines undergo welcomed changes.  We invite you to think and live differently...radically.

Radically Ordinary (08-22-2020)

Jesus made hospitality look second nature as he dined and interacted with people throughout the gospels. As we look to imitate Christ it will require some shifts in our lives that will probably feel radical, but yet become ordinary as we grow towards biblical hospitality.

When a Gift is Not a Gift (08-29-2020)

As we take a look at scriptural hospitality, we must avoid the tendency to look at it as a gift or a talent for hosting that some of us have and some of us do not. Rather, where hospitality is mentioned in scripture it is as an instruction to communities of faith to love the "other" as a "brother." By understanding this, we can collectively pursue the true gift of hospitality.

But Who Is My Neighbor? (09-05-2020)

This week we continue exploring radical hospitality through Jesus's parable of the Good Samaritan. How can we as Christ followers respond in mercy to need and opportunity?

Counterfeit Hospitality (09-12-2020)

Too often, the church is known for what it is against and how well they “hide” inside their walls rather then daring to love people well. Embracing the blend between host and guest is a challenge we are all called to live out.

Have Mercy (09-19-2020)

Today we are going to look at he idea that mercy motivates genuine neighboring. In Matthew 9, Jesus was hanging out and eating with a group of people who the self-righteous religious elite considered unworthy and beneath their concerns. Jesus challenged them to "go and learn what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice". As we look at this passage we will learn how mercy compels us to get our hearts involved in our neighbors' lives so that all we know is the passion to love others as the Lord loves us.

Radically Hospitable Communities (09-26-2020)

When radical hospitality moves from an individual practice to a communal one, the “other” is able to experience the Spirit and the Kingdom of God through radically hospitable communities. This offers to the world a community apologetic where others are invited to “taste and see that the Lord is good.”
